Programma

Diary of class exchange

Il programma giornaliero del viaggio in Turchia è ricco di stimoli e di esperienze. Esso è illustrato da foto di luoghi di interesse artistico (Efeso) o naturale (Cesme) e dalla affascinante vista mare di Izmir.

The daily program for class exchange participants is rich in proposals. The program is enriched by pictures of places of interest: tourist attractions in IZMIR, photos of the Turkish partner school, Ephesus and Cesme.

15th May Hurray for the great day! We left from Venice airport: destination Izmir.
Our first flight to Turkey: how thrilling! Our first meeting with our Turkish friends. How lovely to practise our English every day for a week  and to get to know  young people of our age.  How exciting the first evening with our new families.
16th May In the morning we went to our host schools where we met our new friends. İzmir Özel İtalyan Koleji..  is a small school, of 200 hundred students of different ages, from children to teenagers. The school system is less demanding than in Italy.
In the afternoon we prepared some dances and posters to introduce Friuli-Venezia-Giulia at the Fair  Trade Show on Tuesday. In the evening we spent our free time with our host families and walked around the beautiful city of Izmir : we took pictures of the spectacular seaview.
17th May The Youth Festival of Science and Culture in Izmir opened with a solemn ceremony accompanied by folklore dances, patriotic songs and motivating speeches.
We set up our Italian stall at the Fair  with our typical regional foods: Parmesan cheese, Friulan frico,  Gubana and chocolate. We also displayed posters to show the beauty of our natural landscapes, our traditional costumes, and our acrobatic air force (frecce tricolori). The Italian and Friulan flag were also exhibited with great pride. We distributed flyers containing information about our region and the Turkish  visitors were extremely interested.
18th May We spent all day at the host school laughing and joking with teenagers. The activities were meant to know more about Turkish culture and customs. In the afternoon we took part as special guests to the school ceremony in memory of Ataturk and the freedom of Turkey. We sang along  and listened to memorial speeches by school authorities.
